I have to admit I am a dinasour when it comes to technology and I would have never envisioned myself writing a blog. For most of my life, my free time was spent at the piano with as little time as possible spent at my computer. And truthfully I would still choose my piano over my computer any day. However, I have come to a place of gratitude in seeing the value of technology as it has brought beautiful connections and allowed me to not only record my most recent CD at home; it has allowed me to share my music with many others.
So what brought me to this place of writing a blog? Well let’s just say a series of events and lots of God nudges had much to do with it. Many years ago my first CD was given to a friend at my church and she asked if they could sell it in the bookstore. I have to admit, I was shocked! Who would buy my CD? For years I had shared my music with close friends and family, particularly those I had dedicated various songs to, but never really thought about sharing it with people I did not know. But I will never forget my friends response when she said, “the gifts and talents given to you by God are not just for your benefit, they are to be shared with the world.” I now know that to be true! How many times have I been blessed to read a friend’s book or a blog, only to discover beautiful insights and ideas that invigorate me. We all have so much to offer each other and need each other in more ways than we will ever know. And who better to do the connecting but God! He has brought amazing individuals that have spoken volumes into me and truly have enlightened me in ways I could never imagine. Of course leave it to God to place my neighbor who is a technological wizard right next door to me. And yes, she is the one who literally designed and created this web-site for me. She has been there for me since the day she moved in next door and never ceases to amaze me with her incredible gifts and creative talents. The word patience comes to mind the minute I think of Krista and there is no doubt she has been a strong influence in building my courage with technology.
Another talented and giving friend sent me a quote by Pablo Picasso that etched deeply into my being and reads “ The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Thus here I am hoping to give away what was so generously given to me.
For most of my life the piano was what spoke out loud what I was feeling inside. From the day a piano entered my house I was enamored with the reality that I could pour myself into it and soothe my heart and mind in a way that nothing else could. If I had a test and was anxious about being prepared, I plopped myself at the piano and my family immedieately knew it was a test day. And the opposite took place when I was elated over something, it was expressed in a very different way which was completely obvious to the listener. Composing has been a way of life for me and so therapeutic in helping me work through the many experiences of my life. However, I am now finding the writing of my inspirations behind each composition to be bringing another deep layer of insight and hope into my life.
My three CD’s are literally a chronological compilation of my adult life. In the blogs to follow, I would love to give you the story behind each of my songs. I have always found it easy to express my emotions through my music, but have not always found it easy to express in words. However I am hoping to share my stories and all that I have learned and are continuing to learn through out each experience. I am hoping my stories will connect with some of your stories and bring a sense of hope, healing and an internal calm with in your hearts and minds. And may you be touched and blessed in a very personal way as so many have touched me and impacted my life in such beautiful ways!
